Welcome back.

You may have noticed that my break from blogging turned into something more like an extended leave of absence.  The only reason that I can give for my absence from the blogosphere is that I simply did not feel like blogging.  A lot has happened in the past few months, so my time has been otherwise occupied.
  • Mr. A and I got married in December and went on a fantastic honeymoon.
  • We both have full-time jobs that take up a lot of our time, which means that our free hours are spent at the gym, chilling out, and trying to do everything that we can't do during the workday.
  • Fantasy football completely took over our lives.
Besides the reasons listed above (and more), I also quit loving fashion.  Don't get me wrong -- I am still a compulsive shopper with a tendency to lean toward the more expensive items.  I will always acknowledge the need to dress well.  I still crave Chanel and Christian Louboutin.  However, there are more important things in life.  Since I quit buying high-priced items, I could afford to buy a new car.  Goodbye, 2000 Pontiac Grand Am!  My shoe obsession has turned toward those of the athletic variety.  It seems like I buy a new pair of Nikes every month, and I own more athletic apparel than anything else now.

The fashion industry has also pissed me off.  It contributes to women forming negative body images about themselves.  It convinces women that they need the most expensive clothes if they want to be considered beautiful.  It makes a mockery of natural disasters (see here).  I'm sick of it, so I quit.

Pictures that I have posted on here in the past have been used by other websites, which is disgusting.  My Twitter account has been the subject of some vicious attacks, as well.

I still love blogging, but I will not return to the same level of openness that I had before.  I'm not even sure what this blog will be about anymore.

Thank you to everyone who has commented on my past posts and left words of encouragement.  You know I absolutely adore all of you.

By the way, I have absolutely no idea how to get rid of the extra crap underneath this post, so if anyone knows where to find it in the HTML, let me know.

I'm out.

Dude Looks Like a Lady

There is much more to me than my love for fashion.  In all honesty, my fashion obsession is probably the most feminine thing about me.

I have already professed the importance of football and fantasy football in my life.

Speaking of which, I downloaded three new ringtones to my iPhone.  All of them are NFL ringtones.  One is the theme song for NFL on Fox, one is the theme song for Monday Night Football, and one is for Thursday Night Football.  Seriously, I have a problem.

I want a pet Rottweiler.  Seriously -- How can you not fall in love with this face?  Granted, they grow up to be ginormous and scary, but that is exactly why I want one.  Mr. A and I would treat our Rottweiler like a kid, though.  We would put him/her through extensive obedience training, and we would be there every step of the way to build a strong relationship with our pet.  Since I don't want actual children, we are getting furbabies.  Real kids make me uncomfortable.

Weightlifting is my main form of exercise.  How many women in fashion can benchpress more than their body weight?  The answer: Not enough.  Weightlifting does not equal bulk.  A lot of females I know think that they will get big and bulky if they start weightlifting, and this is not true.  Weightlifting builds and tones muscle.  The only way a woman would become the Incredible Hulk is with supplements -- or if they are genetically predisposed to bulk up. (Of course, Mr. A just corrected me by saying that the Incredible Hulk got big from exposure to radiation -- not from working out or steroids.  Whatever.  That's not my point.) Real women lift weights.

I have quite a few masculine qualities. (Believe me, there are more.) I think it takes people by surprise because I am small and cute with a small, cute voice and because I dress well.  They expect me to be a cutesy girly girl -- until I open my mouth.  It's fun to surprise people.

A New Direction

Lately, I have been struggling with my opinions of the fashion industry.  There is so much negativity and hatred that run throughout fashion bloggers and the industry as a whole.  It is no wonder that women struggle with body image issues.  As much as designers are trying to promote "healthy" body types, they will never represent how the true woman looks (or acts, for that matter) because that does not sell clothes or make money.  For the most part, I have had a positive experience with the fashion blogging community, but lately I have noticed that bloggers are getting meaner and so are people who are reading the blogs.

By nature, the fashion industry is competitive, but so are those who are trying to break into the fashion industry.  During New York Fashion Week, it's all about who has the best seats at shows, who spots which celebrities, who gets the best pictures, etc.  On Twitter as well as in the blogosphere, I am noticing that people are getting more competitive and less supportive.

It is no secret that I am heavily involved with sports.  I live for football (go Bears!) and hockey (stupid lockout), in particular.  March Madness owns my world for three weeks.  ESPN rules our television.  I have more jerseys than blazers in my closet.  I also follow many, many, many sports journalists on Twitter.  What I have noticed is that the sports industry is infinitely more supportive and less competitive than the fashion industry.  They will challenge your opinions, but they will never tell you that you are fat or ugly or that you dress poorly.  They don't care about your physical appearance; they care about your opinions and thoughts.

Glam Kitten's Litter Box will be going through a transitional phase over the next few weeks.  I am not sure which direction it will take, but I will keep you informed.

We need more positivity in our lives.  My love for fashion will never end.

Dear Blazers, I Love You. - Photo Shoot

Nobody can ever have too many blazers.
This goes for both men and women.  I will, of course, be speaking from a woman's point of view.
Blazers go with everything -- jeans, dress pants, skirts, dresses, rocker tees, tank tops, camisoles, V-necks, T-shirts, dress tops, button-ups, collared shirts, etc.
They are the most versatile piece in your closet, and they will never go out of style.
In these pictures, I'm wearing a Chicago Bears T-shirt under a blazer.  And the blazer still looks awesome.

I'm a Chicago Bears fan.  Mr. A is a St. Louis Rams fan.  The two teams are playing each other this Sunday, so it is World War III in our house.  I love Mr. A this weekend, but I don't like him.  It's probably not a good thing that we are both so competitive. #Rivals

This time of year is my favorite.  There aren't many bugs, so I don't have to worry about running for my life anytime I am outside.  There is a bit of a chill in the air.  The sky is filled with big, puffy clouds.  It is just beautiful.

Please notice the sleeves.  I did not push them up or roll them like I usually do.  The sleeves are actually sewn and gathered like this, which is fantastic for me.  Very rarely do I keep my sleeves down where they are supposed to be.  The gathering makes it look a bit more feminine and unique than other blazers.

See?  You can wear heels with a football T-shirt.

I bought this blazer in three colors - this navy blue, a bright (almost neon) blue, and black/white striped.  I have my eye on the same style in grey, as well.  Yeah, it's a blazer obsession.  Sorry I'm not sorry.

Working Girl - Photo Shoot

The unthinkable has finally happened.  Mr. A and I both have full-time jobs.
When did we become such grown-ups?
I still wear "South Park" pajama pants and football jerseys to bed.
I trip over my own feet in the office and fall into walls, desks, and chairs.
I sing along to the Spice Girls and Britney Spears in my car.
There are some days I don't want to wear real pants; I just want to wear boys' basketball shorts.
It's important to keep that youthfulness whenever possible.  Be professional when necessary.  Have fun always.

This is one of my favorite places to go in St. Louis.  If you are ever in the area, visit Tower Grove Park.  It's beautiful.

Since I got my first full-time job, I thought it was appropriate that I celebrate the best way I know how -- by shopping, of course!  I bought this top from Ann Taylor Loft last weekend along with a bright pink pencil skirt.  Ann Taylor is a great place for petite girls to shop.  This weekend, I went to Nordstrom and bought two more blazers (blazer love, hollllaaaa!) and an electric blue skirt from Macy's.

The weather at this time of year is my favorite.  There is a bit of chill in the air.  The sky is slightly overcast.  I don't sweat when I am outside.  If I could move my desk and computer outside into the Quad for work, I would -- but keep the bees away from me.

There is nothing quite like pulling to the side of a busy road to take pictures in front of large groups of people.

We also went shopping at the Disney Store.  The cashier asked us if we wanted gift receipts with our purchase.  I responded, "No, we don't need receipts.  These stuffed animals are for us." And I was serious.  We bought a stuffed vintage Mickey Mouse and a stuffed Lotso from "Toy Story 3."
